Coming of Age in Chore Boots graphic

“Coming of Age In Chore Boots,” writer/performer Janet Schlapkohl’s comical and heartfelt look at growing up in the Midwest, opens at Riverside Theatre Dec. 4. Directed by Tim Budd, the one-woman play follows Schlapkohl’s journey growing up in the midst of major political events of the time, including the Vietnam War, the Equal Rights Amendment and the Farm Crisis in the 1980s. Schlapkohl tells those stories with a good dose of humor, portraying the idiosyncratic characters and situations that were common when she was growing up.
