Join us this week for a Thursday Theatre Talk
Join us this Thursday, Oct. 20, for the latest Thursday Theatre Talk with Miriam Gilbert at Riverside Theatre!
In The Taming, playwright Lauren Gunderson stirs together a Miss Georgia pageant, the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and a bit of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. These “strange bedfellows” inhabit a wild political comedy, centering around the fantasy--or is it a possibility? -- of rewriting the U.S. Constitution. What are the implications of this premise? Is partisan gridlock inevitable or avoidable?
Join Miriam Gilbert, Department of English and Caroline Sheerin of the University of Iowa Law School on Thursday, October 20, 2017, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Riverside Theatre, for discussion and questions about this intriguing contemporary play.
